Here we go, again…and again! I’m thrilled to share that I signed a two-book deal with Simon & Schuster for a Young Adult novel, MAYA, set mostly in Central America, and another UNTITLED YA novel, set in Africa.
This means that I get to work once more—twice more!–with my amazing editor, Caitlyn Dlouhy, and the incredible team at Atheneum. Huge thanks to my star agent, Faye Bender at The Book Group, for making my dream a reality.
I don’t know if or when this will ever sink in…that I get to be a writer. These next two books will be published during a new presidency, a new chapter in America’s history. How fitting that the deal became official on January 20th. As the fiercely talented poet Amanda Gorman said herself, “We did not feel prepared to be the heirs/ of such a terrifying hour/ but within it we found the power/ to author a new chapter.”
